Our congregation grew up with Floral Park Village. By 1912, many Lutherans had moved to the village, and two among them, Mrs. Homeyer and Mrs. Metzendorf, together with a missionary named Pastor Halter, canvassed the village and surrounding towns for Lutherans. On March 10th of that year, Pastor Halter led a service, and Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church of Floral Park was born.
Since that spring day in 1912, Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church has served the communities of Floral Park Nassau, Floral Park Queens, Bellerose, and Elmont steadily and faithfully. We gather every Sunday around God’s Word and the Holy Sacraments. We express our faith in service to wider community through our daily lives and in our participation in Lutheran Social Services.
As Christians, the Lutheran faith is centered on the person and work of Jesus Christ. We believe that God is three in one, or triune. We believe that the Son of God became a human being to suffer and die for the sins of the world so that all who believe in Him will not perish but through His substitution for us on the cross we are given forgiveness and eternal life.
